Chris Platzer is a 34-year Vallejo resident running for Vallejo City Council in 2026, focused on practical leadership, economic development, public safety, and a stronger future for Vallejo.
My technology and maritime background has taught me how to identify opportunities, understand complex infrastructure, and turn practical ideas into results. I want to bring that experience to City Hall.
Mare Island remains one of Vallejo’s greatest economic assets. Our deep-water access, rail connections, dry docks, piers and industrial infrastructure can help attract investment and create quality jobs.

Chris Platzer's priorities for Vallejo include jobs and economic development, public safety, downtown revitalization, waterfront and marina innovation, and responsible city government.
Vallejo’s greatest economic asset is its location, history, diversity, and capacity for growth. Situated on the San Francisco Bay between San Francisco, Sacramento, Napa and Sonoma, Vallejo combines waterfront access, ferry transportation, historic neighborhoods, available land, and a comparatively affordable cost of living. Its identity has been shaped by maritime commerce and, for more than 140 years, by Mare Island Naval Shipyard.
Mare Island and Vallejo’s Economic Opportunity
- Mare Island as an economic engine. Vallejo can build on Mare Island’s maritime heritage and infrastructure to attract manufacturing, maritime businesses, technology, education and other employment-generating industries. The current draft Mare Island Specific Plan envisions as many as 14,900–17,000 jobs alongside substantial new housing.
- The waterfront and downtown as destinations. Vallejo’s waterfront, ferry connection and historic downtown provide the foundation for a walkable mixed-use district combining businesses, housing, recreation, arts, culture and public gathering spaces.
- Vallejo’s existing assets rather than starting from scratch. The city already has historic architecture, a diverse population, maritime infrastructure, transportation connections, businesses, educational institutions and an established arts and cultural community. The challenge is coordinating these assets and creating an environment where private investment can succeed.
